Who We Are

RITAH ANIMAL RESCUE is a fully registered non-profit organisation that was founded by Ms. Ritah Ndagire. Today, the shelter is home to +150 dogs — many of which were abandoned in front of the shelter or were found injured on the streets. The shelter’s mission is to provide a safe home for unwanted, abandoned and injured animals in Uganda. With more than 150 animals to care for, the shelter is experiencing increased difficulty in covering bills and fundraising for additional projects such as the construction of shelter buildings and dog houses. Ritah’s mission is to save every animal, and provide them with food, shelter, love, safety and medical care, while raising awareness both within Uganda and internationally about the importance of treating them with kindness, respect and dignity.

There is a stone bench to the left and a small metal bin nearby, both resting on a paved surface. The lush greenery and trees surround the structure, contributing to an overall pastoral setting.

FUTURE PLANS OF RITAH ANIMAL RESCUE

Securing a Forever Home For Our Furry Friends.

As we continue to grow and save stray animals, our future plans include purchasing a piece of land to build a permanent animal shelter. This is a crucial step towards providing a safe and stable environment for the animals in our care.

Why Owning a Permanent Shelter Matters.

Renting our current facility has allowed us to establish ourselves in the community, but it also presents limitations and uncertainties. By owning a permanent shelter, we will;

  • Reduce operational costs: No more rent increases or lease restrictions.

  • Increase capacity: A permanent shelter will enable us to care for more animals in need.

  • Improve facilities and resources: We can design and build facilities tailored to the specific needs of the animals, enhancing their well-being.

  • Enhance community engagement: A permanent shelter will enable us to deepen our roots in the community, fostering stronger relationships and partnerships.
